Simple Model of Big Events

E.th.ph. talks about the avalanche model of big events and the fact that it is impossible (in most cases anyway) to use the "who benefits from it?" logic to determine the reason for what is happening, as any big event involves many groups with many interests (by the very definition of the word "big").
