The Raspberry Pi Pico is the newest member of the Raspberry Pi family. The Pico, however, shows itself as being different from the rest of the family. The Raspberry Pi has long been a tent pole of the DIY and electronics scene. Offering a highly functional computer for less than a good meal or a delicious Pi. It has become synonymous with the hobby itself, and whenever a computer is needed for a project the first answer is almost always to use a Raspberry Pi. Having improved and perfected this product over the years the Raspberry Pi Foundation looks to tackle a new market, microcontrollers.
The Pico looks to be a direct competitor to the Arduino series of microcontrollers. Forgoing the full Linux system and instead taking a more embedded approach. Offering an appealing series of interfaces and a thoughtful approach to design at a great price, it could be a winner. Although, I have doubts.
The confusion with SEO and the brand confusion is going to make it difficult for this to compete with the Arduino Uno. Also, the literal decades of learned experience and documentation from the Arduino project is nothing to scoff at. That leaves we with the question of who this is for and leaves the price feeling like a false economy. Ultimately, this will leave the Pico as a weird one off that the Raspberry Pi Foundation doesn’t ever try again. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX7Q9edF9j4
