How to easily make an Optoisolator / Optocoupler
electronicsNmore
In the event you need an optocoupler / optoisolator for a circuit, but you do not have one on hand, you can easily make one using a short piece of rubber vacuum tubing(black), an ultrabright white LED(driven with 3.1-3.5V unlike a standard optocoupler which uses 1.2-1.4V), and a LDR or phototransistor. The LDR/phototransistor can handle 50-100mA which is more than sufficient for controlling a circuit. Isolation between both circuits is extremely high.
