after all this time i can finally reference mike matei's "minecraft with gadget" in a video description. i've waited so long for this day. hold on though, im gonna ramble for a bit, as per usual. y'know, im not sure if theres a single game that has been talked to utter death in history in the same way that minecraft has. many an amateur video """essayist""" (translation: internet teenager who thinks hes an "intellectual" and thinks he has something of substance to add to general discourse) has tried making half-assed videos with dumb titles on whatever minecraft-related subject. therefore, there is little i can really say about this game without sounding utterly redundant. the interesting thing is that that should in no way be the case. minecraft being a literal sandbox game in which every playthough is unique should in theory lend itself to unique discussion every time. the game itself has limited amounts of information and such that can be discussed. this is why ive never been of the camp that says "MINECRAFT IS GOOD FOR THIS SPECIFIC GAMEPLAY/DESIGN/MUSIC/LORE REASON" because that would not make sense. minecraft is good if you choose to make it good; to have fun with it. you don't need to watch a video essay to convey your feelings on a game (translation: have opinions fed to you by the internet) and if you do you might actually be subhuman. i like minecraft for the experiences that i had with it, which will certianly be different experiences than you had in some way or another. that's whats special about it.
