Chocolatey - A Package Manager for Windows

Chocolatey is a cmd line tool that uses Powershell scripts that are very similar to a batch file to install and setup applications on Windows.

Chocolatey is open source & licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL). It is built on top of the Nuget framework, a code-specific package management tool build and open-sourced by Microsoft for platforms that run NET Framework.

The way Chocolatey works are nearly identical to the Arch AUR. The Chocolatey repos host build scripts that download binaries and installers from websites and install them into your system. The Chocolatey install scripts are written in a language called PowerShell which is somewhat similar to bash.

Chocolatey is mostly a CLI application but most end-users can benefit from the ChocolateyGUI, which is an unofficial package written by the Chocolatey community. Chocolatey uses Nuget, which is a tool from Visual Studio, to fetch and install packages on Windows. ~~ Support the channel!
