UE4 Landscape Material with Gaea Generated Masks PREVIEW
Dylan
So, I'm currently working on an Auto Landscape Material in UE4. I know that there are a few of those out there already but the one I am working on will account for the masks and color maps generated in Landscape Modeling software, like Gaea, for easy texture assignment. There will be built in variation to reduce tiling and add variations of textures, like Grass and dirt, plus rock and stone. This example is my current build. So far, I managed to get the variations, slope, and color map integration to play nicely together.
The project, when finished, will come with easy to understand descriptions and sample content, like your basic grass, dirt, and rock textures, plus some Noise variations I created so you can mix up the noises if you want for different results.
In the end, I'm hoping this will be a simple switch for people who want to go from Gaea to UE4 and save a whole slew of time.
Best part is, the Master Material will be commented out with easy to understand comments that explain what is what. So, if you need to tweak any variables for custom results, you can easily do so.
Everything was made in Gaea, minus the obvious texture materials.
This is an example of the current build. More work will come soon.
