4K Ultra HD Demo Frying Time Lapse CHDK Canon FFMpeg

First test case success! Highest resolution YouTube 4K HD Video (3840 x 2160) demo test case using CHDK (Canon Hack Development Kit) interval shots at 4000x3000 resized and cropped using IrfanView to 4K frame size and then assembled into 25 fps movie using FFmpeg on my old laptop.

This demo is a proof of concept that it can be done using a 12.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot SD780 IS camera loaded with CDHK (for time-lapse functionality) to capture frames at intervals. After all 128 frames were captured, they were resized from 4000 x 3000 to 3840 x 2880 and then cropped to 3840 x 2160 using IrfanView Batch conversion. Then I used FFMpeg to compress all the images into an MP4 using the libx264 guide settings at 23.976 frames per second.

Use video settings to view original 4K as well as standard HDTV resolutions! This demo shows that older hardware can be hacked together with free software (CDHK, FFMpeg) to generate 4K time-lapse videos. Now to make a panning track or automatic rotation swivel for my camera!
