Space Quest III on Atari: MT-32 vs YM-2149
Dbug's stuff
Warning: If you are allergic to the YM sound in the first half of the video, skip to the second half to hear the MT-32 version!
It's been a while since I gave an update on my Atari Mega STe upgrade project, since last time what happened is:
- I replaced the internal drive by a Goex (SD card based floppy emulator)
- I installed an internal Ultra Satan drive
- Fixed a bunch of internal issues that made the machine unreliable
I had to modify the Ultra Satan (solder a couple of capacitors) because it would not boot reliably when recent high capacity SD card were inserted, apparently because of the power draw.
Then the video show the game Space Quest III (from Sierra) intro first using Monochrome mode with the YM soundchip, then a second time in Color mode using the mt-32pi device (https://github.com/dwhinham/mt32-pi).
Special thanks to Wietze for the ST to VGA device, and Troed for the information about the mt-32pi.
