Looking back, hindsight is 20/20. There is a typical experimental age when many people try substances, but not everyone becomes an addict. In my case, family turmoil played a significant role. While it wasn’t abuse, the constant conflict between my parents was a major factor. Turmoil at home, whether abuse or not, is often a significant contributor to addiction.
Genetic predisposition also played a crucial role in my situation. My family history is marked by alcoholism. My paternal and maternal grandfathers both succumbed to alcoholism, as did my father's elder brother. Although my father never drank, fearing the consequences, he could have been an addict given his lineage. He consciously chose to avoid alcohol after witnessing its destructive effects on his family. From the moment I first tried alcohol, I was hooked. This instant addiction can be explained by genetics. Both scientific evidence and spiritual perspectives suggest that addiction can be inherited. Some people are more predisposed to addiction than others, largely due to their genetic lineage. #ThePlayHouse #cta101 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOGEkkbYgeo
