Education is like a vast interconnected web of knowledge. Each concept builds upon the next, forming a cohesive structure of learning. For example, in one class you might begin by learning to write the number one, and in the next class, you're taught that one plus one equals two. Without grasping the foundational concept of writing one, understanding two becomes a challenge. This progression continues through each stage of education, with each new piece of knowledge expanding upon what was learned before.
However, if there are gaps in understanding at any point along the way, it can hinder learning in other areas. For instance, missing a fundamental concept in mathematics might make it difficult to comprehend related principles in physics later on. This was the case for me; despite being in class six, my math proficiency was more akin to that of a student in class four. This gap stemmed partly from my preference for personalized attention in learning environments. When a teacher can engage with me individually, I thrive. But in a crowded classroom with limited resources, it's challenging for teachers to cater to each student's unique needs.
In such situations, educators do their best with the resources available to them, but the reality is that every student is different.
