Ksmbd can it replace Samba?
DJ Ware
There is a new SMB Server in town and its a kernel level driver called ksmbd. I wanted to check it out and see how it compares with my mine NAS protocol which is NFS as well as the older implementation of SMB using the samba service.
Mount I used was: mount -t cifs -o username=USERNAME,uid=USERNAME,gid=USERGROUP //HOSTIP/SHARENAME
It takes awhile to connect (on MACOS at least so be patient)
Make sure you are getting ksmbd 3.4.5, I had problems connecting to the server when trying to use an older 3.4.4. version, it would fail with an Error -50
Sorry you tube doesn't allow angle brackets in the description so change Host IP to your hostname or ip address, and sharename to the name you gave your share.
