Building A Live Podcast Server on Linux
DJ Ware
I am working on putting together a way to do Live Podcasts along with a Live Stream on YouTube. This will allow me to record an audio only broadcast and store it with the audio streaming server to be played back on demand. I am using three open source technologies all of which run on Linux to do this: Liquidsoap, Icecast and AzuraCast. Join me as I work through getting this installed for the first time and setting up a radio station with it. Liquidsoap is the engine for the streaming part of this and it will also do Video Streaming as well. Liquidsoap subscribes to the composability model which means you can configure it by installing modules to provide the functionality you need, and leave out the stuff you don't.
I think most people get their music from streaming services today, but I prefer to own the songs, so I use liquidsoap as my own music streaming service with zero tracking.
You can of course also set this up for home use to be a private music streaming server, so that all of your music is playing, even changing playlist automatically based on a schedule, so there are many different ways you can use AzuraCast, all of which is easily configured via the AzuraCast web base GUI.
