WHAT RESOLUTION DO I NEED FOR STREET PHOTOGRAPHY? (16, 24, 26mp or something else?)

I think most of us realize that the megapixel measurement of the camera's sensor and image output is only part of what makes a camera great. But it's always good to revisit these discussions from time to time. With higher resolution X-Series cameras coming out soon this is a perfect time to remind myself of what resolution or megapixel count I can get away with when creating my photos.
