The First Two Calves Are Born!!

We have BABIES! Well, two out of three, so far!

And wow! Have we been busy! It's like we're running a maternity ward up in here!

Two of our due cows have delivered. The third cow, an old pro at this, is over three weeks late!

Our farm is working to preserve these two heritage breeds of cattle on our farm. The Dutch-Belted Lakenvelder Cows are currently on the critical list, and the Belted Galloway cows are on the watch list. Our Dutch-Belted calf is a heifer. Our Belted Galloway calf is a bull, but not for long... Don't worry! We still have another bull coming.

Our farm is a work in progress for a self-regenerative farm with organic permaculture/biodynamic farming practices. And, many of these efforts have a direct positive impact on our cows' health.
