There is no value in darkness

There is no value in darkness. There is no use in suffering. This is the great deception. We cannot reduce suffering in the world by increasing our suffering. We reduce suffering in the world by reducing our suffering. We reduce suffering in the world by bringing more joy into our lives. Suffering has not made us more compassionate, or more understanding, or move loving, or any of those stories we like to tell ourselves to try to justify our own suffering. We were already compassionate, understanding and loving in our own nature. We did not need suffering to get us to where we are now. We did not need to learn anything through suffering that we could not have learned through joy. It may be hard to admit to ourselves that after a lifetime of suffering that the suffering was not necessary or useful at all. But until we let go of the perceived benefits in suffering, we will not fully let go of suffering. Everything that comes through us is light, either it is pure light or it is distorted light. Darkness is distorted light. We never needed darkness to see the light. Darkness was never necessary. It was a mere distortion. We just assumed we had to make room for it because it exists.
