Linux Mint Debian Edition 6. An easy way to switched to Debian 12
The Independent Linux User
Hate Ubuntu, don’t like Snaps proprietary packages, and worry about proprietary software in your Linux distribution?
There are a lot of distributions of Linux to choose from. One in particular is Linux Mint. They make switching to Debian much easier. They make doing Flatpak packages much easier.
Linux Mint has two bases, one is the regular Linux Mint which is based on Ubuntu and the other one is the Debian Edition which is based on Debian.
And now, LMDE 6 is out and ready for prime time. This is the 6th Edition of Linux Mint Debian. It is base on Debian Bookworm or Debian 12.
I just install this on my NEC VersaPro laptop. An Intel Core2Duo P8700 @ 2.534GHz with 6 gigabytes of ram and 245 gigabytes of SSDs space.
I also install some of the applications that I use most of the time, like Kdenlive, Audacity, Libreoffice, OnlyOffice Desktop Editors, Parabolic, Whisper, VLC, Firefox and Thunderbird, Gimp and many others.
It feels much stable on my old system. I get to do things that I do on a regular windows computer. But much more secure and faster.
From the time I started using Linux, Mint is the only distribution that I gravitate on. It is my go to distribution. For that I can say, Thank You Linux Mint Team for making this Debian Edition a perfect distribution of Linux for beginners like me.
And for you Linux users, who hate Ubuntu based distributions and don’t want Snap packages and proprietary software on your Linux distribution, LMDE 6 is a much easier alternative to switched to.
It makes Linux much more human friendly for beginners desktop Linux users like me.
