A research team from the University of Bonn in cooperation with local police is trying to develop a system to detect burglaries using Wi-Fi routers. Using MAC address logging, the technology is even supposed to be able to help track fleeing suspects. While it sounds like an interesting idea, 'Projekt Wachmann' ('Project Security Guard'), in my opinion, has many so unaddressed weak spots that the negative consequences could far outweigh any benefits.
