When crypto surges like this and the smart contract platforms get pulled up suddenly it is way more lucrative to participate in the DeFi offerings. People start chasing yield. Suddenly the market is misbalanced and the rewards are fat. By chasing after those returns they have to buy gas which is the base coin of the smart contract platform which drives up the price and drives the yields up as well. It suddenly is a self fulfilling prophecy.
We have heard the Bitcoin ETF stuff since 2014 but this time around it may be actually a lot closer. Who knows but regardless it has caused a crypto surge.
