Bob takes us through a walkthrough of the Durabook R8 which, is on the edge of being released. Durabook's newest tablet won't ship until the end of January. We were lucky enough to receive a demo unit so that we could get a first look at the specifications and features of this new tablet. It is able to run Windows 10 Pro very well while being lightweight and having a nice rugged feel to it. This R8 comes with an 8-inch LCD, a 12th-gen core processor I5 core processor, a 128 gig SSD, and eight gigs of RAM. It also has a great battery that they are claiming can offer 16 hours of battery life. Some of the ports available on this unit include an upgrade port, which on the unit they sent us had the barcode scanner. The other options include an RFID or a smart card reader. The R8 comes with a nice set of port covers that are water and dust-tight. There is a USB-C port, a headphone jack, and a power port. This tablet also comes with a power button, and a volume button, and then there is a programmable button. It also comes with a webcam on the front of the tablet and it has a back camera. This R8 had a fan-less design and comes with an Intel Wi-Fi 6E card that supports Bluetooth version 5.2. It is also supposed to have a long battery life of 16 hours. The screen also supports a touch mode that is selectable between a bare-hand mode, a glove mode, a stylus mode, and a mode for there being water on the screen.
