The Value of Work
Better Start Thinking
Synopsis:
Work occupies so much of our lives that we almost universally want our efforts, our labor, to matter and to have value. We try to find meaning in our work, and find work that matches that which we think has meaning.
We can also ask of ourselves: "If my work is successful, will I be happy with the impact I have made?" Our work can have an impact and yet feel valueless.
Should the value of our lives come from our work, or from within? Should it be derived from how others perceive it? Is it more important that work has merit today, rather than how history will view it?
These are not rhetorical questions, but rather meant to enable thought and exploration in the context of our own work and the work that takes place around us every day. There is value in the exploration itself.
