Jason and the Argonauts - Part 4 | Ancient Greece Revisited
Ancient Greece Revisited
The adventure of Jason and the Argonauts in four parts:
Part 4
As we near the end of this "Hero's Journey," the man who first coined this term: Joseph Campbell, reminds us that while fairytales are essentially "stories of maturity" - where boys and girls transform into men and women respectively - myths proper deal with realities that extend far beyond the hero's own life. In our story, the Argonauts were set to getting the Golden Fleece back to their native lands, back to Greece. But gold, the only metal that doesn't oxidise, also stands for the "immortal substance," the real treasure that heroes worthy of their names are always out to find. And for a Man worthy of His name, the secret of immortality that was lost in the Garden where Adam ate of the fruit, is found in the one who tempted him: Woman.
