EtherDFS: Easy file sharing for #DOS computers #howto
Al's Geek Lab
In this howto video, I just missed out on #DOScember by a few days... ah well, good things come to those who wait! EtherDFS is a great solution for those of you who want to transfer files between your retro DOS computers and a modern day Linux box, without having to do something like run FTP. Literally, you just want to connect to a network share, i.e. just go to the X: drive or something and see all the files shared on there. EtherDFS lets you share any mount point from your Linux box (I used a #RaspberryPi in this example) and access those files easily from the DOS prompt. I also show you later in the video how to share those files on to the rest of a modern Windows 10 or Mac network via Samba on the Raspberry Pi.
You can get EtherDFS from: http://etherdfs.sourceforge.net/ You can get Michael Brutman's TCP (inc. FTP) stack from: https://www.brutman.com/mTCP/mTCP.html You can check out my video on how to set up a packet driver and general DOS networking here: https://youtu.be/KIl0yRN18AM DOS packet drivers here: http://crynwr.com/drivers/
