How a CPU is made
Abs SCIENTIFIC } WORLD
imagine for a second that you don't have the computer, smartphone, PlayStation, and almost any other electronic device all that possible because of an unbelievable thing ' sand ' and you should not be surprised that modern lights are also made up of sand, but let's find out how sand can make all these things
just like your brain, a computer has a CPU which is a brain of it and its made of sand: silica is the major constituent of sand.
SIO2 or silicon dioxide
and then silicon is melted to be purified although there are many different steps to finally reach semiconductor manufacturing quality which is called electronic grade silicon by the use of fire to melt it is one of them
One big crystal is grown from the purified silicon melt. the resulting monocrystal is called mono ingot.Which has silicon purity of 99.9999%
then the cylindrical ingot cuts into individual silicon disc called wafers.
the wafers are polished until they have a flawless mirror-smooth surface
then a light-sensitive material is applied to the wafer called
photoresist
then the wafer is exposed to UV in between a lens and a stencil
where stencil has a circuit diagram and the lens is used to reduce the size of a circuit diagram so what gets printed on the wafer is typically 4 times smaller than the size of a stencil that it what makes transistors small
then the extra photoresist is removed by etching and the pattern becomes visible
although Doping is the process of adding impurities to semiconductors to alter their properties here implantation works where exposed areas of silicon wafers are bombarded with various chemical impurities called ions .ions are implanted in the silicon wafer ions are shot onto the surface of the wafer at the very high-speed 3lak km/h or 185000 miles/hr
then the wafer is cut into dies which contains millions of transistors and right now its the brain of your computer
