Present Moment Connection | The Witness Exercise
Wellness Talks with Todd J. Schmenk, LMHC
Hi All! This is one, if not the best, mindfulness practice that I have ever come across. Well worth the four minutes.
I learned this approach in working with Ken Wilber back in 2002 (for those who know of him) in which he described this as being one of the best ways to truly get present in the moment and learn how to objectify your thoughts, emotions, desires, and sensations so that you are aware of them and can choose whether to respond to them or not.
The basic underlying usefulness of a mindfulness practice.
Just a quick introduction followed by visual cues to follow along with.
To get the most out of it, try using it at least once a week, if not more. When I first learned it, I tried it 3-4 days a week and was much better at noticing what my mind was doing. I return to it when I fall back into old patterns and it resets my this ability every time.
I hope you like this tool as much as I have and if you do try it for awhile, please feel free to comment on it below.
