Functions Of Behavior Explained | Escape, Avoid, Control | Wellness Talks
Wellness Talks with Todd J. Schmenk, LMHC
This is one of the most important concepts I utilize in session. There are three main functions of behavior explained in this video, escape, avoid, and control. While there are subsets to these (such as tangible, sensory, medical) this video is looking at the three most basic along with looking at how these functions can serve us well or lead to overuse which in turn, ends up being less useful and more often then not, adds to a challenging situation.
I hope that you find the information within this video useful. If you do, please be sure to click the thumbs up. This helps to ensure that others will be offered an opportunity to benefit from it as well.
The main goal of this channel is in educating people on how the human mind and body work to help develop greater psychological flexibility. When skills and concepts are practiced with purpose and intent, it has been demonstrated that a good deal of our suffering can be decreased.
If you would like a more in depth look at these presentations, including weekly exercises, worksheets, and support materials, would like a more direct access to me, and/or you would like to help support this outreach program so that I can increase my attention to this mission, consider joining me here: https://www.patreon.com/toddschmenk to see how to become more involved.
