What is MIMO?
MIMO, or Multiple-Input Multiple-Output is a technology used in WiFi routers to improve speed and coverage.
MIMO uses multiple antennas at once to transmit and receive data, enchancing speed. Instead of using just one antenna where the transmits and receives have to pause and wait for each client, each transmission can take place on its own dedicated antenna.
This means faster downloads, lower ping times, and better performance.
Early Single User MIMO routers with just two antenna, meant clients would have to have to wait their turns to use one or two antennas, slowing the network down the more WiFi devices there are.
When Multi User MIMO routers were introduced with numerous antennas, it suddenly allowed multiple devices to talk to the router at the same time, spreading the work out among the multiple antennas.
To optimize MIMO performance, position the router in a centralized location and angle the antennas so that all can see as many devices at the same time.
Most laptops and WiFi adapters now have two or three internal WiFi antennas, with some high-end models having more for MIMO as well as beamforming, which will be the topic of the next video. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOxTOOfqIpo
