Intel ARC Battlemage Update.
Battlemage has a recent update. During an interview with PCWorld, Intel's Tom Petersen confirmed that the next-gen Intel Battlemage GPUs have a planed release for H1 2024, so May possibly June with the flagship models dropping first.
Peterson stated that about 30% of Intel Engineers are currently dedicated to Battlemage development, primarily the software side.
A leak by Graphically Challenged on Twitter back in October hinted at Battlemage's specs:
Alchemist Battlemage (BMG G10)
Node: TSMC 6nm TSMC 4nm Xe Cores (RT cores): 32 56 +75% increase Shaders: 4,096 7,168 +75% increase Boost Clock: 2.4 GHz 2.8 GHz +17% Increase Mem Bus: 256bit 256bit Memory: 16GB 16GB
It should see a bump in Xe cores from 32 up to 56, which also inludes one Ray Tracing unit each for an increase of +75%.
Shaders should also see a similar 75% increase from 4,096 to 7,168 shading units.
Previous specs on Battlemage put the boost clock at 3Ghz, but this leak reduced it down to 2.8Ghz.
Memory bandwidth should stay the same at 256bit with the same max VRAM amount at 16GB, which should be more than enough for excellent gaming at 1440p ultra and medium 4k settings.
If these specs are true, it should set Intel Arc performance on scale with a 4070 Ti and possibly the 4080 in compute performance.
