This project was to build a desktop clock and thermometer for my office. It is based around a PIC18F2550 with a Dallas DS1302 real-time clock. The thermometer is a LM35 chip. The display is driven using an A6276 16-bit LED driver for the rows and a SN74HC164E controlling the columns (via BC337 transistors to allow the display to be bright). The display is made up of 128 high intensity red LEDs.
The display is a lot brighter than it appears in the video; I had to angle the camera to one side to avoid the glare ruining the picture.
