Today's video is about being creative and experimenting with samples. I use a drum loop here, but the same kind of techniques could be used on anything you like!
The methods involved include :
- Parallel processing our original loop with a grit/saturation auxiliary channel
- Multiband processing (splitting the frequencies into different bands - in this case low, mid and high) and treating each band separately. All of which I do manually.
- Making effects chains by using a variety of plugins to find interesting dynamics and textures.
- Using pre-fader sends
- Using Track Stacks to sum the processed channels into a single group that we can process collectively.
- Blending the Track Stack processed sounds back in with our original break
- Adding parallel drum compression and reverbs
- Adding compression to our stereo output to bring the finished loop together
So, quite an in-depth look at treating samples in an experimental fashion. There are a lot of interesting techniques in here - hopefully something to inspire anyone to have fun and get creative!!!!
Hope you enjoy!
