Unity, Blender, Arduino – A love child
Tvtig
So, I have been working on this freaking catapult for like half my life now. In this final video about it, I figured, because I already have the catapult modeled in blender, I would bring the model to life in unity, and simulate the position as well as control the catapult using Unity.
I used the Arduino Json library along side some basic serial communications to send commands to the catapult and read the positional data back in Unity in a similar fashion.
The 3D printed parts for the catapult can be found here Thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4685129
You will find the associated code in the thing description. If you’re interested in how the serial communications between Unity and Arduino work, feel free to let me know on twitter @tvtig and I’ll make an Instructable and git the code.
The blender Images were taken from https://www.reddit.com/user/eruvnek who is extremely talented, and their designs are awesome. You should check them out. As well as an image I found here https://www.creativeshrimp.com/10-blender-renders-for-poliigon.html - Render_Book, Render_Eye
The blender animation is from an official blender demo which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhWc3b3KhnY&t=199s
The Unity animation is from an official unity demo which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQZobAhgayA&t=139s
The Arduino LED video is from an awesome tutorial which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksNbEuhO4fU
Captain Planet is a cartoon that was aired by Cartoon network, and I borrowed the clips from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbW5sxyu9bU
