The Polybun Shooting

Last month, a mass-shooting took place at a protest in Portland, Oregon. Fairly early on as details came out, I’d come to stumble upon the story as it created a buzz over social media – the Furry Fandom reacted fairly quickly when it came out that the shooter was a furry. While I had no direct interactions with PolyBun, he is someone I vaguely remember as having existed came off as an internet Edgelord, by my estimation. Imagine my shock when, years later, he is the perpetrator of an unprovoked shooting.

This certainly goes outside of the norm of content that we typically cover here on the channel, but, it was something that I wanted to talk about it when it happened last month. It does get the least bit controversial in a political sense, but only to impress upon you the environment that Polybuns mental instability seemed to manifest within – a growing animosity towards any group or individual of the left, regardless of the circumstances. I’d collected a lot of material off of Twitter and studied various news stories as they were first revealed, but, days later, the invasion of Ukraine and global economic woes diverted my attention for a time. I’d been working on other projects and pursuits then to now, and add a brief stint playing Elden Ring on top of that, it was hard to get motivated to record a full-fledged video.

My apologies if this upsets any of you, but I think it serves as a grim reminder that people like this exist in the fandom. No one should be glorifying the killing of others or fantasizing such actions – PolyBun did, and his aggression led to an innocent disabled woman being killed.
