Taking A Closer Look at Hypnotist Sappho

KaiUwU tipped me off about some new developments that had taken place on Twitter, so I decided to take a closer look at Hypnotist Sappho and what was going on more recently. Surprisingly, I arrived not too long after it happened on Twitter – the embers were still hot and emotions were still high amongst all affected party’s. While there were allegations of a suicide having occurred, I can’t help but express the least bit of doubt with the lack of any tangible proof. Regardless, Sappho was quick to condemn the anti-zoo’s, the haters, and critics as being directly responsible for a minors suicide, with Sappho’s critics laying the blame squarely on her. Zoophiles and supporters of Sappho, inspired by her display of defiance in the face of unilateral condemnation, were quickly galvanized and decided that they weren’t going to stay silent and accept the abuse and hatred from Anti-Zoos. They had a right to exist as they are and would not remain silent.

Taking a closer look at what little there was to pore over, I could not find any conclusive proof that the individual that was alleged to have taken their own life even existed beyond a single screen shot, and assertions that the person indeed existed and was a valued friend. Suicide is obviously no laughing matter, and while I tried to take the situation very seriously, the whole thing seemed suspicious to me. That this mysterious minor crops up but has no online presence to speak of on Twitter, VRChat, Discord, or any other platform, yet was in active contact and communication with Sappho. You only see Sappho speaking to her after the suicide had happened – no prior communications shown. And the avatar picture of a cat is something a friend of mine used over 10 years ago – not something a little more recent or unique. The name’s rather generic, something anyone can adopt as a pseudonym. It isn’t very compelling, to say the least, and could be staged. But, it’s entirely possible that a suicide occurred – I’d say a 50/50. Even if a suicide did occur? It was absolutely disgusting to see Sappho and her supporters weaponizing it against their detractors as justification for why the “hate” had led to the death of an innocent girl.

There will likely be a follow-up to this, as this is still an ongoing series of events with a lot of layers attached.
