Playing Squid Game For The Very First Time! (on VRChat)
Tujo Panda
Expecting to play Tonbo Battlefield the other night when I got an invite from my pal Techie Foxx, I had to go eat. By the time I got back, everyone was playing Squid Games, which I noticed a lot of friends and acquaintances starting to play a lot on VRChat more recently. I had very little in the way of understanding or expectations from the get-go, only understanding the name and the visuals surrounding the game. So, I made the jump to a large basement warehouse style room, and jumped right into the game.

Squid Games is an actual game that was released on September 17th, 2021, and gained a lot of attention in a relatively short span of time. Someone made a very good facsimile of it in VRChat, at least, the red-light-green-light challenge / level. Other than that, it’s largely speculatory, as I hadn’t investigated or researched the lore or story to any great degree. I take it as a massive social experiment meets population control that’s being funded by a mysterious organization that’s offering a large sum of money to whoever can win each challenge that’s set forth, but they’re risking death or serious injury in doing so. You get shot in red-light-green-light if you mess up, so, I’m wondering if the rewards really justify the means.
As far as playing it on VRChat, it’s a great little party game that’s sure to entertain for hours. I played for 3 rounds and left in the 2 – 3 minute down time in between rounds to showcase furry interaction and the like. Took some creative liberties with the sound effects and music, as apart from the creepy childrens chorus in the waiting room, there’s nothing that plays when you’re out on the wheat field running to the other side.
All in all, hope you enjoy the video, fellas.
