Colleen Ballinger: Problematic and Unapologetic

Up until the video “hi.” and it’s many parodies hit my recommended section, I had no idea that Colleen Ballinger even existed, and why would I? She was a childhood idol, a minor celebrity who geared her career around entertaining kids. Without context, the hi. video just seemed like a passive aggressive way to offset any and all allegations of wrong-doing, but looking into her background just a little more closely, yeah, I’m convinced that she’s a problematic individual. If even half of what’s been alleged is merely exaggerated to generate outrage, it’d be enough to warrant said outrage given what I found out. In any case, it’s another story of a fallen idol that engaged in misconduct throughout the course of her career, and enough people caught wind of this to create some noise. The first round of allegations started in the lead-up to 2020, which she addressed in a video “addressing everything” where she sounded a little more sincere and personable as opposed to her more recent "hi." video.

Three years later, I’m under the impression she’s done playing nice and decided to be snide, contemptuous, and defiant. But, I’m sure this is only the start of her problems after the internet at large took a collective sh*t on her and her reputation. Whether she has a shot at a career after this point remains clear after sponsors have already dropped her, with hints that something a little more severe -may- occur in the not-so-distant future. Will be sure to keep you all posted if something happens.
