To first understand ego death we have to define ego. This is already tricky because there's so many ways to do that and this will change what 'ego death' really is.
So what is ego? In this video I initially refer to ego as a pattern or structure that creates your identity; your sense of self; the boundary between you and the rest of reality (not you); a set of limits that define you. Though others may define ego as (for example) attachment. This would change the meaning of ego death and I talk about that later in the video!
What it really means for the ego to die, is for the ego to change forms, because regardless of anything, you're still in ego. To be without ego is to have ego simultaneously because to be (truly) unlimited to the 'highest' degree is to limit yourself in every possible way. More on that in another video haha. Though this can change if you define ego as something else.
This means that ego death is really just another way of saying the ego is changing form. When the ego changes form it dies in the form it was and is birthed into a new form.
What this means is that every moment of reality, you are simultaneously going through an ego death and an ego birth. The ego is born into a new form, and within a moment, it's born into a new form, and then another and then another, see the pattern? The ego never truly dies in that sense, it's a shapeshifter. It takes on every possible form. One of which is you reading this right now ;) and another of which is me typing this right now!
If however, you define ego death as a complete lack of ego where you are formless. (Even though to be formless is to have a form haha). Then a true ego death would be to 'be one with reality'. For there to be no limits, no boundaries, you no longer identify with anything, nor do you have a sense of self. You are it!
This is hard to explain because language is dualistic and limited. The best way to truly understand this is to go through the experience yourself though beware, it is extremely intense and may even be scary. Though it is also just as b ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzhEj0Z3AeA
