Add Lighting To Your Model Railroad With Arduino Pro Mini

Adding interesting lighting effects to you model railroad is easy with a few inexpensive LED's and an Arduino Pro Mini. In this video we will learn how to place our Pro Mini on a circuit board along with the necessary resistors and LED's to create a welding scene and other lighting in a small area of our layout.

Any sketch we create on our Arduino Uno can easily be adapted to a Pro Mini. The Pro Mini has two more Analog Inputs than an Uno but only has four PWM pins where the Uno has six.

The Pro Mini is 1/6th the size of an Uno so it can be mounted just about in any small space on your layout, even within your buildings. It's smaller than a Nano since it does not contain the chip necessary for a USB connection. With the help of an FTDI board, the Pro Mini can accept any sketch designed for use with the micro controller.
