Givens: The Reversal of the Two Great Commandments

September 2020 Terryl and Fiona Givens answered questions from church members as part of a fireside for the Sunderland Stake in the UK.

In this segment, the Givenses discuss the observation that in Mormon scripture, the Lord reverses the order of the two great commandments regarding loving/worshiping God and loving your neighbor. Fiona explains further that the Book of Mormon establishes a paradigm where service towards your neighbor is a form of worship towards God. They observe that Mormons are under covenant to serve their neighbors in this paradigm, but that anyone regardless of believe that shows love and compassion for others would be justified in this paradigm at the judgement bar.
