Morty, morally troubled, confesses this revelation at a funeral, sparking a series of unforeseen consequences.

Despite Morty's revelations, his family is more distraught over the loss of their cherished spaghetti nights than the unsettling truth of consuming people. The president of Spaghetti Planet contacts Morty, offering "ethically-sourced" spaghetti from an individual who sought assisted suicide willingly. Morty, finding the idea more palatable, resumes their spaghetti nights.

However, Rick unveils that the planet has turned spaghetti into a full industry, selling cans of "MortyO's Suicide Spaghetti" across the galaxy. Morty initially deems this ethical, as the cans carry messages from the individuals turned spaghetti. Rick, bringing Morty back to Spaghetti Planet, reveals the dark turn—the government encourages depression to meet the demand.

Morty, reluctantly seeking Rick's aid, promises to comply with Rick's wishes for two weeks. Their attempts to solve the issue lead to various failures, from sentient clones resisting suicide to less-sentient beings with drawbacks. Eventually, Morty's suggestion to give a functioning arm to a torso solves the problem temporarily.

Chaos ensues on Spaghetti Planet as aliens demand more spaghetti, forcing individuals to consider suicide. Rick proposes a final alternative—genetically cloning spaghetti from the last willing individual to end the industry. Fred Bunks, a man morally opposed to the spaghetti trade, agrees to help. However, Rick reveals that Fred's sacrifice will permanently halt the spaghetti industry.

In a poignant twist, after Fred's life is broadcasted, no one wants to consume his spaghetti or him. Rick shares the lesson with Morty, emphasizing that it's not about right or wrong but about navigating life's complexities. The Smith Family's dinner shifts to salisbury steak, and in a post-credit scene, a planet of sentient vacuum cleaners learns a disturbing truth about the source of their vacuum bags.

Rick Sanchez is the epitome of the "mad scientist" stereotype. He is a genius and a good guy, but he is irresponsible, unkempt, alcoholic, selfish, depressive, sarcastic, and lacks sanity. Unable to pay the rent for his old house, Rick moves into his daughter Beth's house and encounters his grandson Morty, a 12-year-old with little expression, shy, and not very bright. As they team up, Rick and Morty embark on a variety of adventures across parallel universes. Through numerous experiences and reflections, Rick seeks to prevent Morty from ending up like his father, Jerry, a highly unsuccessful man who, despite good intentions, proves to be quite inept on many occasions and heavily depends on his wife, Beth.

Despite their close bond, Rick and his grandson experience moments when Summer, Morty's sister, occasionally joins in the quirky adventures instigated by Rick.
