Border Czar Tom Homan Destroys AOC with FACTS!!!

During a House Oversight Committee hearing in July of 2019, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez questioned Acting ICE Director Tom Homan about family separations. Now the Border Czar, Tom Homan, absolutely destroyed AOC with nothing but the facts.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: It says the official recommendation, there were three different options presented. The third included the option for family separation. This initiative would pursue prosecution of all amenable adults, including those presenting with a family unit. Mr. Homan, your name is on this, is this correct?

Tom Homan: Yes, I signed that memo.

AOC: So you are the author of the Family Separation policy?

Tom Homan: I am not the author of this memo.

AOC: You're not the author, but you signed the memo.

Tom Homan: Yes, Zero Tolerance memo.

AOC: So you provided the official recommendation to Secretary Nielsen on families for the United States, to pursue family separation.

Tom Homan: I gave Secretary Nielsen numerous recommendations on how to secure the border and save lives.

AOC: But it says here that you, you gave her numerous options, but the recommendation was option three, family separation.

Tom Homan: What I'm saying this is not the only paper where we given the secretary numerous options to secure the border and save lives.

AOC: And so the recommendation, of the many that you recommended, you recommended family separation.

Tom Homan: I recommend a zero tolerance.

AOC: Which includes family separation,

Tom Homan: The same as it is when every U.S. citizen's parent gets arrested when they're with a child.

AOC: Zero tolerance was interpreted as the policy that separated children from their.

Tom Homan: If I get arrested for DUI and I have a young child in the car, I'm going to be separated. When I was a police officer in New York and I rest of the father for domestic violence, I separated that father from their family.

AOC: Mr. Homan, with all due respect, legal exiles are not charged with any crime.

Tom Homan: When you're in the country illegally is violation 8 United States Code 1325

AOC: Seeking asylum is legal.

Tom Homan: If you want to seek asylum and go to the port of entry, do it the legal way. The Attorney General of the United States has made that clear.
