Eugene Onegin: Act III ‘Polonaise’ by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Tchaikovsky completed his opera ‘Eugene Onegin’ in 1878, with the premiere performance being given in March of 1879 at the Maly Theatre in Moscow. The work is based on the novel ‘Eugene Onegin’ by Alexander Pushkin.
The Polonaise is performed in the first half of Act III, which accompanies a ballroom scene and a large dance.
