The Firebird Suite (1919) by Igor Stravinsky

Russian composer Igor Stravinsky completed his ballet ‘The Firebird’ in 1910, with the premiere performance being given in June the same year at the Palais Garnier in Paris. Due to the popularity of the work, Stravinsky adapted the ballet into an orchestral suite three times, once in 1911, another in 1919 and the final version in 1945.

The 1919 version of this suite is comprised of five movements: I. Introduction – The Firebird and its dance – The Firebird’s variation II. The Princesses’ Khorovod (Rondo, round dance) III. Infernal dance of King Kashchei IV. Berceuse (lullaby) V. Finale
