Le Tombeau de Couperin (The Grave of Couperin) Suite by Maurice Ravel (arr. Maurice Ravel)
Ravel completed a suite for solo piano in 1917, with six movements. Each movement was in dedication to a friend or family member who had died in WWI. In 1919, Ravel adapted four of the six movements into an orchestral version.
While the title of the work is a reference to the French composer François Couperin, Ravel would explain that this collection is meant as an homage to the Baroque keyboard suite most popular in the 17th century.
The orchestral version is comprised of the following movements:
I. Prelude
II. Forlane
III. Menuet
IV. Rigaudon
