The Tale of Tsar Sultan: Act III “Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov
Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov completed his opera in 1900, with the premiere performance being given the same year in Moscow. The opera is based on the poem of the same name by Aleksander Pushkin written in 1831.
The tableau “Flight of the Bumblebee” is performed in act 3 of the opera, and is meant to simulate the sound of a Bumblebee flying.
