Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne, HWV. 74 by George Frideric Handel
Handel completed his secular cantata ‘Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne’ in 1713. As the title suggests, the work is dedicated to Anne I, Queen of England and Scotland. It is unclear whether the work was a commission, or if the work was ever performed for Queen Anne during her reign, however she did grant Handel a lifetime pension for his musical ability.
