Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV. 1068 by Johann Sebastian Bach

Bach likely completed his four orchestral suites between the years 1730 and 1739. Bach referred to these works as ‘Overtures’, due to their introductory movement using a majestic slower rhythm followed by a more complex fugal section in the French style. There is evidence to suggest Bach had assistance with completing some of these suites from his son Carl Philip Emanuel Bach.

This work is comprised of five movements: I. Overture 00:00 II. Air 07:07 III. Gavotte 11:53 IV. Bourrée 16:21 V. Gigue 17:40

This suite includes the well-known section ‘Air on the G string’ in the second movement at 7:07.
