Kepler 186. If is an exoplanet that orbits the red dwarf star Kepler 186, located about 500 light years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus. It was discovered in 2014 by NASA's Kepler spacecraft and was the first known Earth sized planet to orbit within the habitable zone of a star. The habitable zone is the region around a star where temperatures are just ripe for liquid water to exist on the surface of a planet, making it a potentially habitable world. The planet is about 10% larger than Earth and receives about one third the amount of sunlight that Earth does.
