Mentalism (Cooper, Heron & Heward, 2007) is “an approach to explaining behavior that assumes that a mental, or "inner," dimension exists that differs from a behavioral dimension and that phenomena in this dimension either directly cause or at least mediate some forms of behavior if not all” The field of Applied Behavior Analysis is rooted in a natural-scientific framework with roots in pragmatism. The elusive "mind" is one of these mentalistic interpretations of why we do what we do... and whether you want to believe it or not is up to you, but let me share a different view that may change your 'mind' ;)
