Every day we are presented with situations that have important implications on our quality of life. Things like, waking up in the morning and working out prior to work, or taking a mid-day break to walk, spending times with loved ones, planning for financial security and success, consuming things like social media or alcohol at reasonable levels - you get it right, these decision points we are faced with day-to-day that can lead to short term pleasures or long term pleasures - or worse, short term pleasure for long-term stressā¦ today's video I share a perspective from our field through a great book on the topic, essentially: "Delay discounting is the process by which future events are subjectively devalued by the decision maker, and this process is thought to underlie some forms of impulsive decision making."
