The Birthplace Of Android | HTC Google Sooner PROTOTYPE | HTC EXCA300

Android as an OS has come a long way since the days of competing with iPhone for market share and being considered as a cheaper alternative to Apple, and is now the most popular Mobile OS in the world. With Android 10, Android 11 and all its variants being the most popular and of course, the Android 12 Update on the way. But have you ever wondered, what was the first Android phone? and when was Android developed? Hint - Its not the HTC Dream or T-Mobile G1.

Meet the HTC EXCA300 or the HTC Google Sooner Prototype, the phone on which Android was developed on by Andy Rubin and everyone else involved. This phone was never meant to be released to the public however, a few Android developer kits did leak out and this is one of them which I got my hands on. The HTC Google Sooner is a simple QWERTY phone with basic feature and a basic look, but had a greater purpose of serving as the testbed to what would eventually become Android OS. This prototype phone is largely unfinished and full of bugs and very glued together code and many other untested stuff which makes the fun of exploring it even better!

So here today, I have made a full length video on what the true first Android Phone is like..we will be taking a look at the unfinished Android OS Prototype, Display, Camera test, Battery and all the other software and hardware. You can also count this as a using the HTC EXCA300 in 2021 or HTC Google Sooner in 2021. As its an unreleased phone, its extremely rare and usually would go for high prices online. Rare phones like this are highly sought after collectors items and are getting rarer by the day. And since its considered as a rare collectors item and I am phone collector with a massive phone collection, having this phone was a must. Usually rare Nokia Prototypes are what garner most attention but I thought i'd break that trend and talk about a rare HTC EXCA300 Prototype here on Youtube.
