How to use your Fire 8 as a Security Monitor for $30

Setup of EZVIZ Mini O 720p HD Wi-Fi Home Video

1. Download EZVIZ app on iOS 7.0+ (iPhone, iPad), Android 4.0+.
2. Have smartphone or tablet on same 2.4GHz SSID as camera.
3. Create an account and follow easy and quick setup steps in app.
4. Store the account login and password in a password manager app

While setting up the Mini O, check for the latest firmware update and apply it before continuing with connecting to Alexa. Check for firmware updates on a regular basis. ALEXA Skills Setup for Fire 8 Tablet

1. Select the “Enable Skill” button in the Alexa APP to link your EZVIZ account and discover your device.
2. Select a suitable name for your camera in the EZVIZ APP.
3. Discover your camera in the Alexa APP.

If you change the name of a camera after Alexa has discovered it, you may need to rerun the discovery process in order to use the camera with the new name.

Note: Image Encryption must be turned off from your camera settings in the EZVIZ APP to properly connect with Alexa.

To see a particular camera - Alex, show the "name of camera" (i.e. Alexa, show the front door) To return back to the Alexa Show Screen - "Alexa, hide the "name of camera" (i.e. Alea, hide the front door"

Notes:

1. When initially configuring the camera, make sure your smartphone/tablet is on the same SSID as the camera will be on. This delayed me from getting my camera configured by almost 20 minutes because of that and step 2.
2. Make sure the SSID is 2.4Ghz based as the camera being used here only has 2.4Ghz support
3. Depending on network/internet conditions, it may take as long as 7 to 10 seconds before the image from the camera will be on screen. This is another reason to have as many IoT devices running on 5Ghz based SSID's as possible
